Nestled on 85 beautifully landscaped acres in the piney woods of East Texas, the Caldwell Zoo is home to over 2,000 animals, many of which are endangered or threatened species. Animals roam the plains, swim in ponds and climb trees in their naturalistic multi-species environments recreated to resemble South America, North America and Africa. The Caldwell Zoo, a gift of love from the late D. K. and Lottie Caldwell, is owned and operated by the Caldwell Foundation. Animals includes: Squirrel Monkeys, Aquatic birds, flamingos, Tamarins, Giant Anteater, Cheetahs, Black Rhinos, Elephants, Giraffes, Lemurs, Meerkats, Penguins, Lions, Colobus Monkeys, Yellow-backed Duikers, Bongos, Alligatoes, Black Bears and more.
