Imagine you make money sitting at home and looking contented while the millions of employees are irritated for missing their bus, or upset over pending overnight work, or petrified with their boss’s mood, or anxious over their uncertain career or worried over an ever elusive monthly pay cheque. While people generally dread their next 24 hours, imagine yourself counting cash sitting at home. This is no dream, but realty today. There is a growing number of Indians that is becoming dissatisfied with the hectic work life that brings in less pay and disrupts the family life by keeping people away from home for long hours. Fed up with this donkey’s life, millions of Indians have either already quit their jobs or are seriously contemplating to do so. Are you one of them If so, don’t worry. There is hope for you. Your fantasies about make money sitting at home, starting your own business, and spending more time with your kids and family will soon come true. You can join those millions who earn money from the comforts of their homes. There are many ways of make money sitting at home. You can write, talk, type, listen, sell, blog, teach, freelance, manufacture, grow, cook, stitch, decorate, entertain, counsel and be a consultant or even a telecommuter. Whichever activity you choose, you are sure to make money that will not only meet your monthly expenses, but will also leave you a tidy sum for the rainy day. However, it is not money alone that woos people like you to work from home. There are two motivating factors and they are a) the opportunity to spend quality time with family and b) independence. When you are your own boss, the benefits are aplenty. The first benefit is that you are the master of your time. Many a time, you hear complaints from your friends that they ‘skipped’ their breakfast as they were getting late for their morning appointments. Or, there was ‘insufficient time’ for them ‘to prepare well’ for their major client presentation. For them, a day should have more than 24 hours. Generally people waste their time either in preparing and commuting to and from work or in attending boring department-level meetings. At the end of their journey or a meeting, they are too fagged out to find time or energy to do any fruitful work. Not so in your case. You are your own boss. You have plenty of time at your disposal to plan and do your work peacefully. You don’t have to rush to any office and then reach your clients. You can directly talk to your clients on phone and take care of the nitty-gritty. The most important benefit of being your own boss is that ‘you are in charge of your income’. The smarter you work, the better you earn. My friend Rajeshwari, a divorcee with two children, is a very good example for ‘smart work’. When she started off as a Public Relations consultant 15 years back, she was working very hard. Reason. She was desperate to prove to all that she was good in her work and therefore deserved better pay. She worked for long hours staying away from her home and kids. However, her efforts went unrecognised. She was paid peanuts. A devastated Rajeshwari took a sabbatical five years ago for introspection. After much thinking and consultation, she realised that she needed to do one thing: change her attitude. When once this realisation dawned on her, Rajeshwari became cheerful and she confidently revived her PR consultation. She converted her front room as her office. Took a telephone connection and got her business cards printed. She was ready for challenges. She began treating her clients not as clients but as friends. She took care to study the needs of her clients in advance and made suitable suggestions. She ensured that her clients did not overspend or did not incur unwanted expenses. Her clients started taking her suggestions seriously. Slowly but steadily, Rajeshwari gained the trust and confidence of her clients. The first few months were tough, but she managed to pay her bills. Today, she still operates from her home in Hyderabad. Her personal income has grown from zero to Rs 3 lakhs per annum in just 60 months. To top it, Rajeshwari has a small team of three freelances to assist her in serving her ever-growing client base better. Rajeshwari’s life tells us this: success and money come if you have the right ATTITUDE. It is OUR ATTITUDE towards life and work that makes our life 100 per cent complete. It is not just hard work, or knowledge, love, luck, money or even leadership that brings us satisfaction or success. It is pure and simple ATTITUDE. The right attitude and a strong belief in self will put you on a path that will take you to the much needed C*A*S*H. Now that you are sufficiently pumped up and raring to go, don’t blindly quit your job and to start your home-based job / business.
