LONDON One of the famous destinations of the world is London. It is a happening place where you can do as you wish. Have a relaxing and leisurely holiday or have a trip of a day which you wont forget in hurry. There are many tours in London and various types of companies which all offer different tours depending upon the amount of money you are ready to cough up. The Abbey is England's most important church and as you all aware has been the site of every coronation since 1066. It has been a zoo, a mint and, most importantly, a royal palace and on top of that it has seen the execution of three Queens of England and the torture of numerous prisoners. At present time you can see the Beefeaters, learn the legend of the ravens and wonder at the glorious Crown Jewels. All this not enough from the Tower of London you move to visit the ancient City Of London. The City is the oldest part of London and contains the majority of the main financial and legal institutions. There is no end to stories and legends there. You can hear about the famous Fire of London, the plagues, the origins of London, its people and so much more. You will feel that you are living in those times. Another important site which you cannot miss is the St. Paul's Cathedral designed by Sir Christopher Wren a great masterpiece. Finished in 1710 after just 35 years of building, it is the seat of the Bishop of London. CRUISE TOURS Secondly, you can have a cruise tour. Cruise route varies depending on the tide. Cruise on the River Thames! Gliding easily through the heart of London, capture riverside views of some of London's most majestic buildings. Your sea journey begins at Westminster Pier which is in the shadow of Big Ben's tower and just a few steps away from Westminster Abbey –the place where kings and queens have been crowned for almost 1,000 years. Across the river you can get a view of County Hall once the headquarters of the London County Council and then the Greater London Council. Down beneath, the London Aquarium reveals the secrets of the deep sea while above, visitors and business people relax in the comfort of the Marriott Hotel. A few yards downstream, see the Millennium Wheel - British Airways London Eye a wonder of modern architecture and technology. In a 25-minute ride, it offers unrivalled views across London and beyond. You will cruise through the Hungerford Bridge then move to the north cross the stunning office development above Charing Cross station and then go beyond Waterloo Bridge to view the London Television Tower. Just ahead of watch the OXO tower filled with studios, restaurants and flats. Ahead of Blackfriars, come across the steps for a view of St Paul's Cathedral as the cruise will pass the new Millennium Bridge, which provides a pedestrian link to Bank side. The main attractions in this region are the Tate Modern Gallery and the re-creation of Shakespeare's Globe. For the connoisseur in you there is the Vinopolis, the World of Wine. Southwark which is famous for its riverside pubs and the smallest of the capital's three cathedrals is on the South Bank. As you move forward through London Bridge a breathtaking panorama unfolds - the Tower of London, Tower Bridge and HMS Belfast. The HMS Belfast has recently restored to her former glory in camouflage paint. Tower Bridge is among the London's newer bridges. It was opened in 1894 by Prince Albert after more than half a century of uproar by the City. You will move on into Docklands - historic Wapping and Limehouse to the north side Bermondsey and Rotherhithe to the south side. Numerous of the old harbor have now vanished while those that remain now play host to yachtsmen, weekend sailors and narrow boats. The riverside pubs quite a famous place which were once the haunts of seafarers and dockers, are presently a favorite haunt of the local families, tourists and City workers escaping from the Square Mile. Amongst the pubs which hold on to their traditional attraction are the Mayflower, where the Pilgrim Fathers moored before setting off for the New World, the Angel, well known to Samuel Pepys in his days as head of the Admiralty, and the Grapes, one of Charles Dickens's favorite watering holes. From there on you will be approaching Canary Wharf, and further move to historic Greenwich, the home of time itself. The Naval College and Seamen's Hospital have taken on a new task as the main campus of Greenwich University and The National Maritime Museum having a new Neptune Court and galleries, offers a captivating and pleasurable visit for all the family. These along with the historic clipper ship Cutty Sark, the Old Royal Observatory, Queen's House, Fan Museum, traditional covered market and many more attractions form the World Heritage Site of Greenwich.
