Although the county of Lubbock was founded in 1876 , it saw the real development after its incorporation in 1909 . Establishment of Rail services, expansion of roads , agriculture, infrastructure and several other progressions were made shortly afterwards.On May,11, 1970, a tornado , recorded as one of the strongest in the history , struck the city and changed a lot. But just like the city had recovered from the losses of world war II and the great depression of 29, it did exactly the same this time around and bounced back with much stronger determination and has successfully managed to locate itself on the country's technological map.
