Tyler, the Red Capital of America is located
in the state of Texas. It is the part of Smith country. The geographical
location of Tyler is located at 32203N, 951760W.The
total covered area of Tyler is 128
square kilometer with just 0.3 square kilometer water. It is situated
544 feet above sea level.
Tyler is surrounded by many smaller suburbs like Whitehouse, Lindale,
New Chapel Hill and Bullard. The total population of Taylor is 89,552
people with average density of 655 people per square kilometer.
Tyler is the leading city of east Texas. The city was established on 11th April, 1846. The major highways joining Tyler to other major cities are U.S. highways 69 and 271 and State highways 14, 31, 64, 110, and 155. The city received its name in the memory of President John Tyler. First Methodist church was established in 1846 and first Baptist church was established in 1848.The first newspaper was launched in 1851. Tyler have rich and fertile soil which has always attracted many planters. Tylerfs economy started growing in 1851 but it began to boom after 1856.By now city emerged as a leading shipping and commercial center. Earlier economy was dependent on slavery. Almost 35 % of the population was slave.
Tylerfs first bank the Bonner and Williams was founded in 1870. A public school system was established in 1882, and by 1885 the town had churches, three planning mills two private colleges, public and private schools, two banks a plow factory, hotels , wagon and carriage factories, an ice factory, several gristmills and cotton gins, an opera house, a waterworks, and two weekly newspapers, the Democrat and the Courier.
Earlier economic growth came from agriculture. Cotton being the major crop contributed four-fifth of the total agricultural income followed by fruit orchids. Later in 1920 farmers started growing Roses and by the end of 1940s Tyler became the major supplier of roses to the US market. This also gave birth to the famous Texas Rose festival.
Other than farming other major industries of Tyler are aluminum foundries,
a tire factory, petroleum, chemical plants, concrete block plants,
machinery manufacturers, air-conditioning and refrigeration plants
manufacturing of clothing.
The major population is of white followed by black and Hispanic. City has a daily newspaper, 1 television station and 9 radio stations.

At present the population of city is 83,650 people with 32,525 households. The average family size is 2.48 with median family income of $ 43,618.The ratio of males to females is 83 to 100.
City has the fastest growing economy in Texas. Besides Rose industry other major companies of Tyler are Brookshire Grocery Company ,Tyler Pipe, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., Trane, Carrier, Delek Refining, Ferguson Beauregard etc.

Tyler have two institutes University of Texas at Tyler and the University of Texas Health Center both associated to University of Texas College. Tyler also have two colleges Tyler Junior College and Texas College affiliated with the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.
Public schools are taken care by Tyler Independent School District . City also have some private schools like Grace Community School, All Saints Episcopal School, and Good Shepherd School.

Bonner-Whitaker McClendon House is about 100 years old and is known for its finest architecture.
Goodman-Legrande, Harroldfs Model Train, Historic Aviation Memorial, Smith Country are some of the main museums of Tyler.
